I've been thinking about re-naming my business for a while now. For two reasons, mostly.
1. Everytime I call back a client who left a message, I say, "Hello, this is Bill from BTK Entertainment!"
Client, "Who is this?"
Me, "Bill from BTK Entertainment"
Client, "Who?"
Me, "Bill the DJ / Disc Jockey"
Client, "Oh, Hi!"

2. "BTK" used to stand for "Billy The Kid". Now it conjures up images of that serial killer from Kansas. Not who I want to be associated with.

Does anyone else has the same issues as number 1? Or is it just me that has to break down and say, "I'm the DJ".

So, I'm working on coming up with a new name. Any suggestions? My market is more school dances, sweet 16s, family events. Not so much weddings.
I'm not sure if I want to keep "Entertainment" in the name or not. Or go with a "xxxxx Disc Jockeys" or something similar.

Thanks!

Hi Bill,

Yeah I have the same problem too, you end up talking to these people like they're children...."Hey...um yes I'm the guy that was making that loud musik come out of those big speaker-box things....you know...BOOM BOOM BOOM?" Makes my skin crawl having to explain it that way.

Anywho I had a think about your name change dilemma and I've come up with a few "play on words" changes for you to ponder.....

"Bill Beats"
"Billy Beats"
"Billabong Beats"
"Bill-Jay the Dee Jay"
"Bongo Disco"
"Double-B Entertainment"
"Bang Bang Billy Entertainment"
"Triple B DJs" (see above)
"B 2 Tha B Productions"
"B-Cup, Size U Up"
"B-Grade Entertainment"
"Billo DJ"
"Pay-Ya DJ Bill"
"2 Dollar Bill"
"Bubble-O-Bill"
or how about just plain ole....
"Bill The DJ"......;-))

Thanks ROQ, glad I'm not the only one. Smiler

And thanks for the suggestions. I like the "B Cup, Size U Up". Big Grin
Unfortuneatly, in the 'states, (at least, my state), a company name has to be "real words", from the dictionary. I got around that with "BTK" because (technically, on the books) my company is "Billy The Kid Entertainment". I just took liberty and shortened it, for Internet's sake.

My thoughts:
"Super Action Mobile DJs"
"Outrageous Entertainment"
"All Night Mobile DJs"
"The Not too Cheap, But Not Expensive, and Way Cool Disc Jockeys"
"My Family Needs To Eat DJs"

Nope, still the same name.

I was thinking of "Outlaw Entertainment" (sticking with the whole "Billy the Kid" theme), but someone already has the website. Frowner

Still open to suggestions... Smiler
