I've been debating doing this for awhile, buying a trailer for the dj stuff. I'm thinking that having torsion suspension would be a must. Anyone else using a trailer and have any advice on buying one? I'm probably looking at about a 6 X 10 ft. size. Thanks

I use one, 5x8. Single axle. Everything fits, pretty snug. No wiggle room though.
Most important is to make sure your vehicle is rated to tow your trailer filed with equipment. Load the trailer properly too. Also, get a good lock!

I roll a 6x12 and torsion suspension is a must have.
A side door and extra height are very helpful things to have along with a ramp door so you don't have to lift everything in and out every time. Upgrade is on the way though so i'll be towing a 7x16 in a few weeks.

i tow a 6 x 12 single axle, no problem with anything as of yet i think if you get a sigle axle and fill the need to insulate the floor go for it, but for now, it's doing the job. i have learn to store the speaker off the wheels, prevent movement.

Hey thanks for the feedback. I'm fer sure planning on the torsion suspension, side entry door and rear ramp. My F150 should pull it alright (it's pulled snowmobiles, PWCs, motorcycles and boats)Finding used ones is real tough, so guess I may have to step up to a new one-ouch!

I have been using a 7x16 trailer for about 12 years. Dual axle is the only way to go. No bounce, less sway, and easier to pull. I have two windows that are cut into the side so I can spin from inside with my lighting truss on the roof. An 10,000 watt generator handles the lights, and a 3,000 watt inverted generator powers the music end of it. I also use a 6x10 trailer (single axle) for some smaller gigs, but I really have to watch how I pack the equipment. By using trailers, you can get to the gig with any truck in case you have problems with your main truck.

I could come up with some pics maybe and a lot of horror stories of trailer road rash.
Maybe the most important thing is to secure the equipment. I have built a shelf to stow things in the front of mine, as well as add rings and use ratchet straps for securing things to the trailer. I do pack mine very tightly and it's usually not a lot of strapping or tying as much as it is cramming and shutting the door really really fast to keep it all in there.
But i have runied things by not securing faster than it would have taken me to tie it down. Lesson learned the hard way.

Something i did with this trailer was add a full carpet treatment to the interior. Ramp, walls and floor. Pretty much takes the edge off the wood and gives it an attractive interior. Very nice for those who want to see the inside and how it all fits.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I did buy a 6 x 12 single, torsion axle trailer last weekend. Securing my load will be the next task. I had entertained the idea of a trailer which would allow you to 'gig' from it, so I liked Airtime's idea. And carpet's a great idea. I was thinking of getting the rubber mats at Costco that link together? I did get some strapping and devices that allow you to strap your load to the interior walls of the trailer. And speaking of generator's, I recently bought a Honda EU2000i. It handles my equipment quite well, very smooth power and QUIET! A nice option for those rural, outdoor gigs (like, Snow-Parks)
