What would be cool is a SDK(Software Developer's Toolkit) to allow us to make our out profiles and then do some profile sharing. But that might be too much to ask.

Right now, the MyDMX software is of course focused on ADJ products, which makes perfect sense. Just another reason to stick with their products.

Actually you will find there are over 2,000 profiles already available in the my dmx scan library. and if you go to your programs folder open my dmx you will see a "scan library" and it wil open up and there you are your very own fixture profile creator!! if you know anybody that needs a file u have simply attach it in an email. easy as 1,2,3! sincerely,

Well okay..its a LED PAR 64....Most likly the same as the ADJ version

Don't assume "different brand, essentially same item, should be the same".

Definately check the manuals and specifically the DMX specification page. That's the only way to know for sure.

Making profiles isn't that difficult. I know, I just did it myself. It can be time consuming, but it's not terribly difficult.

I am in need of an effect profile.

I'm looking for a profile for the Chauvet Elan. Is there a way I can make my own. If not it has 4 Channels (R, G, B, and Strobe).

There is a scan library, profile creator program which will allow you to create your own profiles in the myDMX bundle. However, we do already have a profile created for the unit in question. Please send us an e-mail to support@americandj.com and request the profile. We'll send it to you ASAP. In the near future, you will find profiles, not available in myDMX, on the myDMX webpage. Please, let's just ZIP the files up, OK? I just downloaded the latest and I see no valid reason why a compressed archive was recompressed. Just use .ZIP and ensure compatibility.

I was wondering.... I built a couple of fixture profiles for the software called "Freestyler". I wonder if those profiles are transferrable to MyDMX? I have a color changer that I bought from ADJ years back... it is not programmerable per se but has several different diachoic colors that can be called up by different fader values. It is DMX addressable??
PS. I just ordered MyDMX from Springtree online.

Is there a profile for the ADJ "Par Dim" product?

you dont need one for that. just add a par profile from the generic folder and address it to the same channel that u have the par dim pack addressed to. Welcome to the forums. sincerely,
