you can. Or just make your own one channel profile and select one of the 3D icons that would best match what your light looks like.

You cant do anything. if your laptop is 64 bit you can try to downgrade vista as a 32 BIT OS. other than that if you keep the 64 bit one you will not be able to use my dmx.

What matters is what version OS you have, 32bit or 64bit. All modern computers are 64bit and backwards compatible (x86-64), it is the OS that determines if the CPU uses 64bit or not.

The problem is 32bit and 64bit drivers aren't compatible, and this is where the issues arise. Though some 32bit programs won't work on the backwards compatible portion of of 64bit OSes. These are very rare however (like Hog PC for example).

So if you are using Boot Camp/Paralles to get into a 32bit version of Windows, you will be fine.

I can confirm that on an Intel-based MacBook that MyDMX works JUST FINE. I'm using Bootcamp. I don't trust Parallels. Not a fan of emulation.

I bought my MacBook Pro to ensure I could run ProTools no matter what. When I bought it, ProTools was not certified for OSX 10.5, so I ran ProTools under XP Home(32 bit) using Bootcamp to enable that fun stuff. BootCamp come free with the OS but is an optional install. Also, you have to provide your own license for XP or Vista. Then, Digidesign updated ProTools for 10.5.2, then it broke again at the 10.5.4 release, so I had to go back to XP again to continue to run Protools until 7.4.2cs2 came out for the Mac.

My MacBook Pro is my main "professional" system. I mainly use it at events to run MyDMX, but I'll get a cheap laptop to run MyDMX as I upgrade my Firewire 410 to a 002. Later on the 002 will be replaced with a Tascam X48 system.

I'm gonna hold out for Windows 7.

I'm looking forward to 64-bit computing. ProTools works great on the Mac, but I think it's still 32-bit.

Sony Vegas will render files twice as fast and transcode twice as fast using 640bit architecture. Imagine, the 50+ hours of video I am converting would have been done last week, but instead, it's taking forever.

I can't blame ADJ for taking the safe route by going 32-bit only for now. It is going to be the majority of their user base. Once Windows 7 comes out, we're going to have to deal wiht backwards compatibility issues. This is going to be similar to the Windows 3.1 to 96/98/NT stuff earlier, and then the XP/Vista stuff now. But I think this is going to be more along the lines of the Mac OSX stuff, where simply put, it flat out wouldn't run the older apps anymore(except in Classis mode, which died with 10.5).

There's going to be some major fallout. Just part of the way things go. We'll get through it, just like we always do.

umm we had released the 64 bit drivers. But they did not work right. so they are back to being worked on some more.
There is no plans to release my dmx for a mac OS. However you can run bootcamp and VMware and it should run just fine.

Push harder.

Short of that, DMX only uses 3 wires. Connect 1 to 1, 2 to 2 and 3 to 3 and build your own adaptor or you can buy off the shelf adaptors.

Another optio is the Opto Branch/4, which takes 3 or 5 pin input, and regardlesss of the input, outputs 3 and 5 pin output via 4 sets of outputs. It's something you should be using with MyDMX anyways.
