Hi All,

Some time ago, I raised a topic with regarding the fact the FX Module did not function as expected with the profiles for ADJ Megabars.

Well, after some testing, I now have a fairly simple workable solution.
I have 4 MegaBars in my set and I can now get the FX module producing some rather nifty effects.

Rather than posting the full solution now, if anyone would like my workaround, leave a message here and I will then write up the full steps to getting it working for you.

Regards.

Ok, here goes:

If you have tried to make any usable patterns with the in built FX module with the MegaBar profile, you will soon see on opening the module that not all of the features of the light are available - it is missing all the colours etc.

As a work-around I have done the following, tested and it works for me.

NOTE: This is for the MegaBar in 11 channel mode but the principle could be used for the other modes the fixture is capable of.

1) Open Scan Library and create a 3 channel basic fixture with Red, Green & Blue channels. No need to set any macros etc.
Save this with the name MB01.

2) Also within Scan Library, create a 2 channel fixture and assign the first channel as a Strobe and the second channel as a Dimmer. You will need to set up the macro settings from the MegaBar manual.
Save this with the name MB04.

3) Locate the MB01 file on your HDD from within Windows Explorer. Copy the file TWICE and call the copies MB02 and MB03.

4) This will give you 4 files totaling 11 channels.

5) Close Scan Library and fire up MyDMX.

6) Import the new files into the fixture profile list.

7) Drag MB01 to the location of the first DMX address in the grid, followed by MB02, MB03 & MB04. Do not leave any spaces between the 4 profiles.

8) Test the setup with your actual MegaBar to ensure that the light is responding as expected. If all is well, the FX Module will now operate as you would expect and create some pretty patterns.

Enjoy playing.

NOTE 2: For each subsequent MegaBar you have in your set, you will need to create addition profiles. Just copy the profiles from within Windows Explorer and name them in sequence - MB05, MB06 etc.
REMEMBER, you must have a sequence of 3 RGB profiles followed by a Strobe/Dimmer profile.

Hope this is clear. Any issues, drop me a message.

Regards.

If any Beta testing etc. comes up. Would like to be involved. I think I mentioned before that I know Brian Dowdle (US) and Dirk Kast (Europe). They will vouch for me.
