Welcome to the forums.
You can download the profile from the american dj website on the my dmx product page. look for new american dj profiles link. once downloaded you can simply drag and drop the file from one window into the scan library. here how it should work. to to my computer go to your c drive, open the c drive, look for my dmx, find scan library, find the american dj folder and open it. now leave that open and then open the folder that you downloaded from the my dmx page. Find the file you want in it and click it and drag it into the american dj folder i just talked about. if it asks you if you want too overwrite. select yes. thats how its done Sincerely, ![]() James D. Thanks Jingles, the profile instructions were very understandable. Then the next questions. I start constructing steps and scenes and the results are uncontrollable. After hours of investigation, I find that the first 8 channels where the xscanLED reside have nothing to do with what the light and the MYDMX are communicating. Instead ch 450-456 are the only channels where the action is taking place. Well with hours of programming I could get some impressive results but why not on ch 1-8?

Here's a strange one, everything was sequencing fine then I noticed the light went off of DMX mode. Tried to get it back on, had to quit the program, then the light was on DMX would not respond, reset the usb dongle, and guess what, now ch 1-8 work...what gives?

Is there anyway to copy or transpose fader channel positions? ie 451-458 to 1-8? lots of hours of programming at stake...thanks for your input and help. jj

What, you are re-doing channel assignments? Always pays to plan ahead so as to avoid those sort of issues.
I could be wrong, and I'm not willing to screw with it now, but I think you can simply drag your fixtures around in the edit mode and accomplish those results. I think the programming associates itself with channels, and then the channels associate to fixtures. Therefore, if you move the fixture(s), the programming will follow the current channel assignments. I could be wrong, but I think the answer is "yes". Have fun, and best of luck to you. I think in regards to an earlier post, we need to examine your configuration. 1: Are you using DMX cabling or microphone 3-wire XLR cabling? Yes, it looks the same, wired the same, but it ain't the same. In case it hasn't been said, USE DMX cabling. 2: How long is your run? While I've seen runs over 500 feet without a terminator, the general rule is over runs of total length equally or exceeding 100 feet should be terminated. My rule: Use a terminator ever time, every run, no exception. It can't hurt. 3: Back to 2: Use a terminator. Duh. Easy to make. Make a few. keep them handy, they get lost easy, but they are cheap to make. 4: Where is the light that had the freak-out in your chain? How is this fixture programmed? DIP switches tend to be "no brainer" once set, but can be a pain for initial programming, then it's "set and forget". I prefer some sort of button-interface personally, but I have no issue with DIP switches myself, mainly since on my movers, I have just as good of odds of putting them on the wrong side of the stage. 5: Are you using dimmer packs? Was this fixture on a dimmer pack? DMX-fixtures(those that plug right into DMX) SHOULD NEVER be operated off a dimmer pack. They should get their power right off a power strip, AC outlet, extension cable, off a distro, but NEVER EVER from a dimmer pack. My guesses: Your XScan LED is NOT set up properly as far as DMX is concerned. I don't think this is a DMX polarity issue since other stuff is working and the light "was" working and then stopped, then started again. Other issues: 6: Your computer. What is your OS? Basic specs please(RAM, HD size and free space, CPU speed, even the CPU type). Wireless disabled? Anti-Virus up to date? Behind a broadband router or you just connected right to the cable modem or DSL modem(stupid!, ALWAYS use a broadband router)? Are you using the latest build? It's the one downloadable from the web site. 7: 3D Visualizer: Are you using it? Is for the most part what you see in there mimicking what your lights are doing? This is mostly a curiousity thing fr me. Ideally, what you see there SHOULD be what you see in the real world. -- Chris Pickett, Studio42 916-601-7089 http://www.studio42.com Anti Spam Advocate: http://www.studio42.org |
