How do you import scenes? I don't see any documentation for it in the manual. I can see the import scenes icon but I can't select it. Help please

You have to make your own scenes first I think. Then you can import them. I think that is how it works.

I'll check mine later. If I can import and export scenes, that would make shows and universe management way easier!

I know, this was of no use to you. I'm sorry. I'm transferring video, converting video, scanning stuff and trying to deal with some other video editing. I'm a bit distracted at the moment.

To my knowledge that is not a feature on my dmx. The reason you can't select it is it's not an option. It is similar to our easy standalone software that comes with compu live. So that option has just been shaded out. You can import different shows but no scenes. Sorry for the confusion.
Sincerely,

Will this be added at some point. Recreating scecnes upwards of 512 channels is very time consuming.

Any changes coming for MyDMX at all? Haven't seen an update in a while.

One thing that saved me a little time yesterday while programming a new club was to save my "FX" generations modifications. Before you generate your FX scenes - (which could be as many as 50 steps - or more)save your work to a file and then you can open it and just change your colors or gobos etc by using the "offset" knob. In your FX generator, click on the folder to save.

Another way to do that is to copy a scene/chase (in editor - not FX) - rename - click the first step on your sequence - shift click (to select all steps) - modify all your times at once, or change all your colors, etc. Saved hours of time.

Wow, Teggers has said something I've said 50 times before.

Save OFTEN and save lots of stuff.

In this case, save your FX generator so you can re-use it. That's a brilliant idea. Wish I thought of it. Wait, I did, back in OCTOBER! Really, though, anything you find useful should be saved becaus chances are you'll use it again.

Then, you can copy the scene and just make the applicable changes. In Teggers case, is an ideal one: using the same FX that was generated, but is changing the Gobo. This has GOT to be a fairly common shortcut. Simiarly, changing the color would be another one. I think holding the CONTROL key while making the changes in a scene will make it apply to all steps in the scene. Good time saver.

Recreating scenes should be a simple matter of "copy scene" and then tweaking as necessary.

What one might want to do is make a "master show" with everything you could possibly want(that's what I am doing). Then, copy that to multiple shows and remove as necessary(what I am NOT doing).

Sometimes there is more than one way to do things. Sometimes there is only one way.

I would say with all the ideas we've come up with collectively, it's almost worth writing a "Dummies Guide to MyDMX..." sort of book. heck, would probably need a companion DVD with examples.
