Hey everyone,

Just got the myDMX a short while ago, and my band is using it for it's entirely uninteded purpose of running a sequence live show with it, hehe.

Anyways, our show is run through ableton live 7, and the plan was to just pop in a midi file with the note on values to control various scenes. I got the trigger to work just fine within Sonar 8, but whenever I pop the file into ableton, regardless of the routing I use, I cant' get myDMX to recognize the note on values from the file, or even from an attached controller.

Any thoughts? Thanks for your time!

I don't use Ableton. It came with my ProTools, I never installed it. Also, I never WILL install it. It was a waste of my money to throw it in the package. Wonderful, I just LOVE spending extra money on crap I don't intend to use.

Rant off.

At any rate, isn't Ableton one of those virtual synth programs? I think the first issue is to see that MIDI is in fact being output from Ableton. Most MIDI interfaces can help on this if they have MIDI IN and OUT indicator lights. It's a good start in troubleshooting.

Since MyDMX is NOT a virtual instrument or device, you either have to emulate a hard MIDI loop or else do a hard MIDI loop(via a cable) to make this work.

The way I see it, MyDMX is really simple. All it cares about is MIDI channel(s), not necessarily MIDI channels and ports.

What is your exact hardware configuration for this application? Once I see that, I'll know more and can give better information.
