I am using ETC SmartPack wall mount 12 channel dmx light dimmers and American DJ DP-415's and DP-1210's. I do not find any listings for power packs under any manufacturer. Can someone help me or tell me how to run them with MyDMX please.

welcome to the forums. i have heard that ETC has something that is different and it could damage your dmx line. im not too sure. also you do not need profiles for your power packs. just enter in each par profile u need on the proper channels to match with what you have on the packs. this is covered in this THREAD.

It is not proper to list power packs in MyDMX.
Why? Simple. While the power pack(and I'll use the term power pack as a generic for dimmer packs, relay packs, switcher packs, power packs and hybrids) is a necessary element, it in the end controls the operation of a fixture. It's more critical to specific the fixture, especially for the 3D Visualizer. A power pack is just a box. You need to KNOW what you're actually controlling. For example my ADJ Aviator SP-8 is an 8-channel dimmer/switching power pack. I typically put 2 centerpieces on it, my Projector 150, a mirror ball motor and 4 gel'ed Par36's on this unit. Each fixture has it's own channel. I need to know what is on what channel. I can dim the Par36's, but the rest need to be either full on or full off. Even though I can set certain channels for switching, I need to know what I'm dealing with. I don't care what dimmer or relay pack I'm using, I just have to know what fixture is controlled on what channel. As long as your power pack is DMX and you know how to set it up, you're good. That's one of the nice things about DMX, it's a protocol language and standard. Simple, yet effective. -- Chris Pickett, Studio42 916-601-7089 http://www.studio42.com Anti Spam Advocate: http://www.studio42.org |

Hey thanks Chris for posting. Here is my situation. Our club has a neon bottom lit dance floor from the mid 1970's. We were hit by lightning last year and the diversatronics matrixing light controller that controlled it was fried and per diversatronics non repairable because parts are no longer available for the head unit. So I have a neon floor in the center surrounded by incandesant color lights and incandesant star on the ceiling and a neon cyclops behind milk white plexiglass. I have no way to see this in 3d visulizer. Any suggestions at all would be appreciated.
This is and example of the floor # = incandesant 25w bulbs. outside ring rotates clockwise going red, green, blue in a 3 channel chase. inside ring runs counter clockwise going blue, green, red in a 3 channel chase. the inside neon tubes chase in a 6 channel chase going red green blue or you turn on the yellow tube in the same cell at the same time of the r,g or b tube and it forms pastel colors of orange, lime green or purple. Then the star on the ceiling is wired in a 6 channel chase and the inside straight leg star is also 6 channel pin wheel chase. The cyclopes is on the front of the dj booth. done in 6 channel chase as well of 3 square neon tubes and 3 star neon tubes. Pretty hard to show that in visulizer if am I correct. Uh, yeah, I can see your point, but for the most part, you need to see what your OTHER lights are doing.
You might want to just use a generic to see if you're tripping/triggering/activating it. Not perfect, but does do the sanity check thing. I'm more focused on live sound production and how my lights tie in. Yours is, while perhaps not unique at the time, is a dinosaur by today's standards. I'm not saying yank it out and toss it. Nostalgia is a marketable thing. My thoughts are assign generics. But at the same point, I think you may need some additional replacements. I think ADJ does make floor lights for this application. I could be wrong. It's 3AM here and I just had to tear apart my old ProTools rig and rebuild it. Not fun, not pretty. Multiple issues(HD failing, floppy failing, replaced floppy, authorize disk failing, SysAxe disc failing... everthing crapping out essentially). It's working. But compared to your issue, mine was simple. Stick in there. I'm sure someone else can come up wiht some better ideas. -- Chris Pickett, Studio42 916-601-7089 http://www.studio42.com Anti Spam Advocate: http://www.studio42.org |
