Thanks James,
I'm talking about adjusting the playback speed while in user mode. when I'm gigging, adjusting the fade and wait times for each scene is not practical. |

HERE YOU GO.
" In the Editor tab, for your first scene, double click on "Always loop" then click the drop down tab. Select the number of loops, from the options provided, that you want this scene to play. Once that is selected, double click below the "Next" column for that same scene then click the drop down tab. From there you can select Next, which will automatically link the next scene in the list, or select a specific scene that you want to follow. Repeat these steps for each scene that you want included in the scene loop." sincerely, ![]() James D. All that does is link multiple scenes. am I missing something?
I'm asking about adjusting the speed of playback. Like if I'm playing a track that is 100 bmp and want the lights to change/move at that tempo. On my Freekie, there is a fader that I can adjust the playback speed of the show playing. |

here is the word on your question.
"there is no live speed adjustment. All fade and wait times must be set when recording." sorry. im sure there might be a work around. just got to dig and find it. sincerely, ![]() James D. wow....then this software is not for DJs.
Tempo control has been around on hardware controllers for years. How could the feature have been over looked???? |

wel if you want speed control there is Compu Live. a bit more expensive but it can do individual speed controls on moving scenes on the fly. sincerely,

I'll have to pass. If ADJ wants to sell a product to DJs, it's going to have to be designed for DJ use. Paying more for a complicated program, when the one "for DJs" is missing a basic feature like tempo control won't fly.

CMBDJ sorry you feel that way. i hope you find a product you want to use. also this isn't targeted JUST to DJ's only. sincerely,

So is this a forum for observations and suggestions..or just a forum for.."oh you want that".."sorry go somewhere else"?
Not a very professional response Jingles |

well actually i am sorry i phrased it that way. i merely meant that if you try it before you buy and it is not what you want then your welcome to go purchase or try out something else that will work for your particular individual needs. im not saying that my dmx will suit everyones needs just stating that for what it does and the price it has a lot of features. also i am currently trying to develop a workaround to the live speed issue. i agree not a professional response and i apologize. sincerely,

Is there any chance that myDMX will support a MIDI Beat Clock in the future (or currently) to adjust speed control?
If not, does the compu live product support a MBC being used for playback speed data? |

When did a MIDI Beat Clock get added to the specification?
You either want MTC(Midi Time Code) or MMC(MIDI Machine control). Unless you're talking pure clocks, but that's not practical. You can have MyDMX sync to music, so if you're doing ore-recorded tracks, it appears you can dump a song into it and work to that. What is your source? It appears that MyDMX can be trigged from a sequencer running on the same PC. If that is true, you won't need MTC, you can just use your squencer to trigger scenes. Back to what Jungles said a few messages back: I'm a sound production company. Not a DJ company. MyDMX is well suited for what I want to do and where I am. I might futz with the MIDI stuff, but not right now. Mainly, I don't have any sequencing software compatible with XP and so I'm not terribly motivated. Unless Cakewalk is under $100 for just a MIDI sequencer.... My preferred platform is still Master Tracks Pro on the Mac. I have 512 MIDI channels and enough gear for it to drive. Full keyboard rig, full electronic drum rig, samplers, lighting controllers, Pro Tools, other controllers and much, muhc more. -- Chris Pickett, Studio42 916-601-7089 http://www.studio42.com Anti Spam Advocate: http://www.studio42.org |

Retracting some of what I said.
You CAN sync to music but right now, it appears to be more of a "use a stopwatch and practice", not exactly graceful. I was under the impression over something I thought I saw that you could import a .wav or .MP3 in to work off of. Whatever it was that I thought I saw, I obviously thought wrong. I can get Sonar Home for like $100. I can drop in some drum sequences and make some MIDI pablum for tweaking with. I have an inexpensive MIDI interface, so I have all the tools to see how much MyDMX can do. I need a basic sequencer handy, so $100 is no big deal. In fact, I am putting my money where my mouth is and am going to get Sonar as soon as I get a chance. Of course, I'm gonna have to take the money back out of my mouth and hope the store accepts it for payment(and I hope that money is clean!!) Even if MyDMX doens't do any real syncing to anything, I can still see myself getting a lot done with it. My lighting does not need tight sync. I can create quick access to scenes. I figure I make 1 or 2 sequences anywhere from 2-5 minutes long to learn, then make longer sequences. All I really need quick access to is blackout, "white scene" for between songs, and a few other things. Since most of my events are simple as far as lighting is concerned. Color changes is the main thing. -- Chris Pickett, Studio42 916-601-7089 http://www.studio42.com Anti Spam Advocate: http://www.studio42.org |

I think the right answer, (as I have seen on other forums), is for Jingles to make a list of "features"... practical features, such as a timing option that can be added in the next software update of MyDMX. ALL software can continuously be updated over time... and a as a performer myself, I will most likely sync my light show to my MIDI tracks in Sonar???

Well yes, a feature list would be nice, but myDMX is just a rebrand of SunLite, so I would target most feature request to them as I'm not sure ADJ would be responsible for actually coding them into the product. Best case ADJ would just forward them as suggestions to SunLite. However Jingles is right, CompuLive is a much more feature packed version of the software.
In fact I might upgrade to it. Anyone want to buy a myDMX box? |

you can use midi to trigger scenes and if you use midi to trigger songs you can use it to synch to music that way I believe. I'm going by what others have told me. I have not tried to actually do it yet. And I have said this in a different thread, we do not forsee any updates other than bug fixes should any arise for my dmx. Sincerely,
