I know that many other software/interface program/products can operate in a limited capacity without being connected to computer and run lightshow.

Can MyDMX do this?

The Mydmx doggle is strictly a hardware interface. It does not have the ability to upload programs onto it.

Yup. Exactly. MyDMX is computer-based lighting control utilizing a hardware USB-attached dongle. The dongle merely facilitates interfacing with DMX-512 lighting. Without the MyDMX dongle, the MyDMX software is not able to communicate to lights, but as you're most likely aware, you can program your light shows in "demo/stand alone" mode, FROM A COMPUTER PLATFORM point of view.

ADJ does offer some more "stand alone programmable devices" that you may be interested in. I have no interest in these so I can't tell you model numbers. But, I doubt that MyDMX is compatible with the software for those units.

Many other ADJ/Elation consoles offer scene programming, recall and chase functionality. Again, this may also address some of your needs as well.

I have an Operator 192 controller already. I was just trying to find a way to create show and scenes within MyDMX and then load those into memory of controller. Show Xpress X-Factor allows a user to build shows and download into dongle and run up to 100 channels.

Thanks for the reply, very helpful.

Thanks for mentioning the product that I was thinking about.

Unfortunately, MyDMX is to the best of my knowledge it's own stand-alone platform. Unless there is an "import" utility to covert a MyDMX show to aShow XPress X-Factor format. But I don't think it's just as simple as that as MyDMX can also contain(but not limited to) the following within scenes: Fixed timings, x-fade times, multiple steps(such as say circles on movers, or maybe a move of a head then snapping it full ON after ensuring the gobo and color wheels are in position). Not knowing much about the Show Xpress X-Factor, I can't speak with any authority about it.

I can say this though, MyDMX isn't going to change to accomodate that sort of functionality. Now, if you have a way to record the output from MyDMX into some sort of DMX recording device(something that would plug INTO the DMX-512 stream), then you could handle it that way. But I think the X-Factor takes the computer generated data and then pushes it into the dongle via a proprietary format(for data transfer), but then after that, the dongle is outputting DMX.
