just picked up a couple of these; the direction and speed or rotation seemes to be somewhat random...is it possible to control either of these??? I've faded through each of the channels and haven't come across anything, so I figured I'd ask...thanks

Are you having issues with stand alone/sound active or with DMX control?

only really tried DMX mode, with Elation CompuLive 2048FC as the controller; that's the only way I would ever use it

Okay. Are you using your own movements or the programed movements in the fixture via channel 3?

If using the movements pre-programed into channel 3, there is no speed control for them. You can however program your own movements via channels 1 and 2. Those movements you will be able to control the fade times on. You can also use the effects in the CompuLive software that has different movements and patterns already setup. You should be able to control the speed of those.

Ask jingles for more information regrading the effects and programing in CompuLive. I am not really an expert on CompuLive and he is the resident guru.
