Well i know for sure i'm hoping on that but i havent heard anything and try to keep up with all new products...plus there was no word of it from namm this year....now chauvet has a prototype of an LED verison with rotating gobos and a prism but it still has the 20watt white led. ADJ would have to step up and go with the 50watt and add rotating gobos a prism and and the auto repositioning. But also saying that will increase the price, if they were to add auto repositioning and a brighter led would be a great improvement

what is the auto repositioning? I am considering the x move and read a review on pro sound's site and the user mentioned it, but I'm not certain what he meant.

Auto Repositioning simply means that if the light gets knocked and/or moved out of position without a DMX command to do so, it moves back to the position that DMX is telling it to be at.
As for brighter LED source in moving heads, Elation is releasing the high powered stuff. They just released the DW LED Pro. It is basically a cheaper, less powerful Impression. But as LT.Raven stated, they still aren't cheap. LEDs are still a new technology and the fact they have come this far in a short period of time is a great testament to companies like AMDJ and Elation. |

Don't get me wrong they are a great fixture. but if you want to buy them for precise hits on a stage or anything like that i would hold off.I've currently got 8 of these in my shop right now and they work great. but they will go off center every now and then.
Now i do know that elation has a 50watt white lLED for their fresnel, which if they were to use that i think would be great. |

Elation is getting ready to release a new LED moving head, but again, expect it to be pricey. It is going to be a DS250 Pro, but with a single source 200w LED. Issue is intensity. It rumors are putting it a little brighter then a DS250, but cost wise it will be more.

We have to keep in mind that most ADJ clients are not going to be Elation clients, or at least not for a while.
The thing is for all others, the Elation gear costs more for a reason, because you do get a lot more, but at a price reflecting that. I'm not saying ADJ is bad stuff, it ain't. It's just aimed at a different audience. For those asking about upcoming products, my suggestion is to keep asking and see what the companies are going to release from their internal knowledge. There is a constant game going on of "we're releasing this, that" against the other companies doing the same thing, and then answering each other with perhaps similar products as well. Not to speak out of turn, but in the case of an ADJ dimmer pack and a competitor's dimmer pack, I cracked them BOTH open to flip the back covers around to help making truss mounting faster. Seriously, down to the components, chips and board traces, it was IDENTICAL, yet one cost almost HALF of the other. The only difference? The cheaper one had an IEC power port(yes!) while the ADJ one had a permanently attached cable. That's it. Same fuses, same everything, different paint. Clearly, some items are simply bought and branded. Others are bought, chipped(say, intels and movers), custom elements(gobos and color wheels) and then branded. I've seen ADJ products and a competitor's product be identical outside the branding in som cases. What I feel though is despite the added cost from ADJ over a competitor, I feel the price is justified by better customer service. Yes, I do have some of the competitor's products, but going forward, I won't be going there for more. Bulbs and parts perhaps, but not fixtures. -- Chris Pickett, Studio42 916-601-7089 http://www.studio42.com Anti Spam Advocate: http://www.studio42.org |

The thing you have to remember is trickle down effect. If Elation gets a 200w single source, all the sooner AMDJ will get something more powerful.
As for rebadged products/knock offs, there is a reason for this. You are paying for the support and service with AMDJ. Also, knock offs generally use cheaper components, like cheaper capacitors, circuit boards, solder joints, motors, etc. These are things you just don't see. Even if you crack them open, you really have to know what you are looking for. All comes back to you get what you pay for. I can list a half dozen Mac line knock offs, but I wouldn't touch them with a 10' pole. |

Yeah, the Mac clones sucked. Apple lured in developers with making machines, then deliberately became difficult to work with. All I recall hearing is nothing but problems with those Mac clones. I predicted that doomed to a horrible failure the moment it was announced.
As far as trickle down, that's sort of true. People buying Elation will pay NOW because quite frankly, they need it now. And as with any industry, early adoptors tend to have to pay a premium. Once prices for certain components(such as those 200w single source LEDs for example) start to drop down, then those sort of fixtures become more economically feasible for ADJ to release units under the ADJ brand. -- Chris Pickett, Studio42 916-601-7089 http://www.studio42.com Anti Spam Advocate: http://www.studio42.org |

Lol, I thought you might take it as Apple computers, I actually meant Martin Entertainment's Mac line of fixtures.

Well, in either case, it appears that Mac clone suck!
But, now think about it. If you've got a 10 foot pole, wouldn't you probably poke them anyways? -- Chris Pickett, Studio42 916-601-7089 http://www.studio42.com Anti Spam Advocate: http://www.studio42.org |

Be a waste of a pole then.

disco54,
American DJ has no plans at the present time to release a X-Move MK II. Thank you all for participating in this discussion, and for sharing your thoughts and comments on the ADJ Forum. Regards, Brian @ ADJ |

I would definitely like to see an LED sourced moving head or scanner that's bright enough to keep up with my 150w discharge movers. Even brighter would be nice. It seems most companies are developing the moving heads, but I would definitely buy a nice LED scanner with rotating gobos and such. Just my thoughts...
