Hardware wise the II has a dimmer channel. it didnt have that before. and had a motorized focus was added in the 250 II version. The II also has one or two different gobo's.
I believe that is pretty much it.

Well, also note that the Accu Spot 250 has been discontinued, while the Accu Spot 250 II is a current production model. The status is a big factor in pricing.

If you're going to go through all that effort to repaint the cases, wouldn't powder coating be a better alternative?

It seems to me powder coating resists chipping and cracking much better than paint. I know an uncle who had a powder coating business. Wouldn't trust him to do the work, but that's not the point!

Can you powder coat plastic? I'm not sure, it is so easy to repaint them Flat black from time to time even if is to just clean them up with a fresh coat of paint. That way I sure it only takes 10 mins and I am back up and running.

I'm not sure if you can powder coat plastic. I think you could get teh static charge to attract the powder to stick, but I don't knnow what sort of temperatures they bake the powder at, and hence what is the melting point of the plastic.

For all of those who WISH to repaint their fixtures:

I do recommend that you seal off and mask the fixtures to prevent paint getting where you don't want it and then paint the ENTIRE fixutre and use two coats. If yuu don't paint the whole thing, you can get mismatched paint.

Right now, I just run my lights, scratches and all. But I'm using Arriba cases, so now scratches aren't a concern, it's more "being crushed" as stuff shifts in the truck! That issue has also been addressed with those heavy duty 2-inch tie-down straps!

If you take a look at some of my past youtube videos I have one that shows you how I painted my AccuSpotII's Flat Black .. I wouldent recomens doing it with the covers on you have a good chance of getting overspray on the moving parts and lenses, not a good ideia unless you are good with masking tape and a Xzacto Blade it just seems easer to take the covers off ..at the same time I would do your recomended cleaning witha can of air or a small vacume to clear the dust to keep them cool and clean. If you want to see how just search for directsound on Youtube and look for the AccuSpot Mod video also you can see my videos on how to make a Flight Case from scratch to protect you investments and keep them safe.
